Laura’s Case Files

I’ve always been intrigued by the “cases around the block” that Laura references in her opening monologue. We have photos of some of them:

Anybody care to hazard a guess on what might be the nature of the cases represented by the clients above? I look forward to your creativity!

I’m most curious about picture #3 – what kind of costume is that man wearing?! And maybe that bottom one is the political convention that candidate Ford Stevens (from Steele Blushing) remembers Laura from? Although she’s not wearing anything too provocative in this picture, so maybe it’s not what Mr. Stevens was referring to.

I was thinking about the same picture. Perhaps it would be on a film set, talking with an actor while shooting Arabian Nights. She could not imagine at this time, her own Ali Baba was going to be materialized in the near future.

  2. Picture # 1 could be that someone stole the recipe to his secret sauce–“The Secret’s in the sauce.” “Fried Green Tomatoes”, Jessica Tandy, Kathy Bates 1991!

  3. Another observation, Is that the same actor in pic 1 and 2 and also another same actor in 3 and 5? Who are they?!

It does look that way. They probably hired them for the day and took a bunch of photos. The fact that the opening goes by so fast, no one would notice back in 1982 – but now that we have the dvds and screen capture technology, we can notice these things!

About #2, I can imagine her taking notes about the information the barman is giving her as a witness, while working on a case. She must have come in a hurry. Just take a look to the untidiness of her attire with her blouse with only a couple of buttons in place. This is not your style Laura Holt!

  5. Does the sultan guy stay in the re-edited opening, or is he replaced by the boxer? I don’t remember him …

LOL on the sultan guy in pic #3. I don’t remember him either. He looks like Lee from Scarecrow and Mrs King when he is undercover as a priest in Munich from “The Times They Are A Changin”. But it can’t be, ’cause that hasn’t happened yet. 😀

  6. I can’t help looking at #4 and think about “Beg, Borrow or Steele”, one of my fave Season 4’s episodes. #1 also reminds me of “Gourmet Steele”, another favourite. It shows Laura had some experience in those areas (horses and chefs) when she had to solve those funny cases with Steele. I bet at that time she thought a partner would have been handy…. 🙂
